Rick Wainwright captured this view of the skies just South of Springbrook, Queensland on July 29, 2011.

“It was nice and dark up high in the hinterlands. There was patchy cloud all night, but I got a few clear shots of the Milky Way.”

Rick used a Canon 550d camera and 17-85mm lens mounted on a tripod. It was taken at 25 second exposure at 17mm, f3.5, ISO 3200.
