I’m happy to announce a new plugin for Adobe Illustrator called VectorScribe. Developed by Astute Graphics out of the UK I was happy to be part of the beta testing and was tasked with creating the branding for the new plugin.
In my book Vector Basic Training I talk about the BetterHandles plugin, Astute Graphics bought the IP for BetterHandles, renamed it, and created a new more powerful set of tools that make vector creation more flexible, easier, faster, and with more precision. It’s a game changer and I highly recommend it.

It looks like this also replaces CValley’s Xtream Path tool, correct?

Astute Graphics bought the intellectual property (IP) of BetterHandles, improved it, added features to it that does the same thing as Xtream Path and a little better IMO. So no you only need this one plugin instead of two.
My book is going into it’s second printing soon so I’ll be re-writing the plugin chapter to include it. It works the same way as Xtream Path did it’s just more fluid and has better setting controls.

Von, do you recommend the designer or studio version?

I recommend the Studio version because it gives you a lot of other features that I also use all the time as well. The amount of time the plugin will save you will more than pay for itself in short order.
