Hollywood reacts to reports of Jani Lane's death

After news that former Warrant frontman Jani Lane had been found dead in a Los Angeles-area hotel, several in Hollywood took to Twitter to express their grief.

“We'd like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Jani Lane regarding their loss,” wrote Bret Michaels. “Respectfully, Bret and all at MEGI.”

Added professional wrestler and former "Dancing With the Stars" contestant Chris Jericho: “Sad to hear about the passing of Jani Lane. Jani was a good guy and one of the best songwriters in the late 80s Dog Eat Dog-very underrated.”

Former MTV VJ Martha Quinn chimed in: “Super sad news. Jani Lane, dead at 47. His body found in a So Cal hotel. No cause yet. #RIP Jani Lane.”

Wrote Jennifer Gimenez of VH1’s "Sober House": “My heart is very saddened by the loss of my friend JANI LANE! R.I.P Jani! May ur soul now rest!”

James Michael,lead singer of Nikki Sixx’s Sixx: AM, wrote: “R.I.P. JANI LANE.”

Josie Stevens of E!’s "Married to Rock" wrote: “Very sad to hear that Jani Lane passed away, my thoughts and heart go out to his friends, family and fans...”

Lane’s body was found at the Comfort Inn in Woodland Hills on Thursday night, but no cause of death has been released, according to TMZ.

The singer had a history of alcohol-related arrests. He was taken into custody in June 2009 for reporting crashing into a parked car. He pleaded no contest to misdemeanor DUI and was put on probation for three years.

A year later, he was arrested for a similar incident that landed him in jail for 120 days.

Lane wrote and sang several hits for the group, including “Cherry Pie,” “I Saw Red” and “Down Boys.”
