I just met Moment Junkie, a site whose mission it is to collect shots that capture a fleeting moment perfectly.
As Kyle Hepp, one of the site’s curators, explains, “I am a Moment Junkie. I’ve been married for almost four years now, and my favorite memory of my wedding day is Seba’s expression when he saw me walking down the aisle. His face lit up with a grin so big it almost split his head in two. That memory exists only my head and in a few amateur digital photographs that my guests took. I wish, so badly, that a Moment Junkie had been there to capture it. I didn’t care then about what colors our flowers were and I don’t care now. I care that Seba and I are far better together than we ever were apart.”
That gave me chills! Tell me, Friends: Is there a moment in your own memory you wish had been caught by a camera?

Thank you for this link to this amazing site. Please tell us what is happening at your summit.
Every moment with my son! Although I have the camera always at hand, I have missed so many!
The first glimpse of my babies after their births. My husband’s always more worried about me and takes lousy pictures in moments of emotion– his hands shake. I’m super-private but considering a photographer the next time around.
My children’s births, sitting in the middle of the bed nursing my youngest, and my grandma with my oldest any moment at all.
I wish I had a picture of when my husband first saw me. I don’t recall that memory now. I am still kicking myself that I didn’t hire a photographer.
A moment that I wish was captured better, not by my amateur point and click. During Thanksgiving dinner some cousins were out in the garage tinkering with grandma and grandpa’s old motorcycle. They got it working again. 85 year old grandpa had an ear splitting grin as he was helped onto the bike and then he took off down the street (while grandma fumed inside that the motorcycle was fixed). The pure joy on grandpa’s face, I wish I had that moment captured.
:) love this site. i hope they expand to mamajunkie, familyjunkie, etc. i have some great ones of my children that i’d love to send. and a great one of my husband hugging his mother that just melts all mothers with grown sons. thanks for sharing.
After 3 years of trying and treatments, I wish I had a photo of my face when I finally saw a big fat ++++ on the pregnancy test!
Yes! Actually, it was also at my wedding – I got a bit weepy during the scripture reading that I had chosen, so we had to pause for a minute till I got my composure back. My brother handed me the vintage lace handkerchief to dab my eyes, I handed it back, and gave a smile and a thumbs-up. There’s no photo of the thumbs-up! :( I wish there was. It only exists in my mind.
The moment when my baby laughed for the first time.
The moment the doctor held my baby over the c-section curtain.
The moment when I my husband and I kissed as husband and wife.
The moment I saw my brother in the airport when he came back from his mission in Australia.
The moment I got my acceptance letter into Georgetown.
I guess I’ll have to keep the mental photos and enjoy the video playback in heaven :)
I wish I had a picture of the first time I saw my first daughter. The moment when the nurses placed her on my chest and she just stared into my eyes. I have a lot of photos of my second girl’s birth but none of the first as there wasn’t a partner to take them at the time and I wish I had at least one picture of that day.
I have several but one that stood out most in my mind as I was reading was nursing my babies. I hated nursing but the I loved that it was something only I could do for them and I loved how close it made us so quickly. I don’t want a picture of my breast, just a picture of those sweet baby eyes looking up at me with his (or her) hand gently resting on my chest. They all did that and they were some of my most precious moments.
ugh, disregard the extra “the” in there.
There are so many little moments. This post made me think of the Jim & Pam wedding episode on The Office… when they take mental pictures of each other. It was so cool. … my wedding photographer also captured quite a few great moments during our wedding and reception, and they were worth every penny. Thanks for the post!
Thank you so much to linking to us at Moment Junkie, we’re honored! The site is such a labor of love for us and it’s wonderful to hear that others are enjoying looking at it as much as we enjoy posting!
I love this idea. The moment that echoes around in my head is the view of the rolling sun dappled Tuscan plains. My cousin Rosie and just happened to be traveling around Europe on my 22nd birthday. We were in Italy on the day itself and stopped over in the hill town of Assisi for lunch. We bough slices of pizza and just kept climbing higher and high up the cobbled streets to get a good view of the plains below. There aren’t really any pictures of that view but it’s one I hold dear in my memory.
